Game of Thrones adds Julius Caesar to 3rd season cast!

Et tu Brute?

The Facts

It was announced earlier today on EW.com (that story here) that Veteran Rome actor Ciarian Hinds will be taking the role of Mance Rayder in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. Fans of the sereis will know the character, but for everyone else, Rayder is the King of the Wilding’s, the ferocious people beyond the Wall. No doubt an imposing character like this needs an established actor, and this announcement ends the weeks of speculation as to who the role would eventually got to.

My Take

I was a big fan of HBO’s Rome and consequntly this made me first discover Ciarian Hinds. His run as Julius Caesar was excellent, and I have followed his career since then, so to hear that he is cast in a great role on a great show, just makes this all the better. Also, oddly enough, Tobias Menzies of Rome fame, fans will remember he played Brutus, has also been cast in Game of Thrones, so its a HBO reunion of sorts! All we need is for James Purefoy and Kevin McKidd to find roles for themselves and everything will be great!

Until next time
