Space Jam (WB 1996)
WHAAAAT? No one called this, but its being reported on The Film Stage (that story here) that Miami Heat Allstar Lebron James has stated, in a tweet, that were he to make a foray into major motion pictures, the first thing he would want to do is make a sequel to the 1996 Warner Bros hit “Space Jam”, that had starred legendary Basketball player Michael Jordan. Now, nothing has been put in motion, and while a sequel to Space Jam has been rumored for sometime, there has been anything put in motion. So right now this may just be a pipe dream for Miami’s MVP, but stranger things have happened.
Well, well, I remember enjoying Space jam when I was a child, so Im not sure how much I can say I’m excited about this. It is absolutly a concept aimed at children and while sequels to established properties seem like somewhat of a Cop -out these days, this one has been out public eye for some time, and just might work in WB’s favor. BUT LEBRON?! Maybe its because I’m an Angelino, but I can’t stand that guy. At least Michael Jordan was a man everyone could respect, he is legendary and iconic, Lebron is just a punk with an annoying beard. Not too mention I was under the impression that the Basketball players turned actors trend ended when the credits rolled on Shaq’s “Kazaam”. Maybe I’m wrong but being able to lay up or hit a 3 pointer doesnt really put you in the postion to become a Hollywood player.
until next time
