Daniel Bruhl first came to the attention of American film audiences when he played the likable, if misguided, German sniper Fredrick Zöller in Tarentino’s “Inglourious Basterds”. From there he has gone on to be in a few films I’ve never heard of, and an awesome turn as Nikki Lauda in Ron Howard’s latest, Rush. But now, word has come down from itself, that he will has a role in the next installment of the Captain America franchise, Civil War.
“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced
performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes,â€
-Kevin Feige
This is great news! We know from his work that Bruhl is a commanding performer, so now this opens the floodgates as to speculating just what role the Spanish born German actor will get to sink his teeth into. Just on the surface, one would think “hmmm, German actor in a Captain America movie… Traditionally not a group Cap has famously gotten along well with…” But who knows, maybe he will play a good guy! Or, as I hope, maybe we will get to see the introduction of another great Cap villain like BARON ZEMO!
Though not likely in that costume
Whom ever he turns out to be, the more I hear about this movie the more excited I am to see it!
Until next time!
